Government Primary School (GPS) Chaunrkhal celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and active participation of students. The day is observed every year on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, popularly known as the “Hockey Wizard.”

Celebrating the Spirit of Sports

The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of sports, physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition in the holistic development of children. Students participated enthusiastically in a variety of fun-filled sporting activities organized at the school. The competitions provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their speed, coordination, concentration, confidence, and sporting spirit.

Competition Results

The students performed enthusiastically in all the activities. The winners were:

  • Race: Anmol – First Position

  • Spoon Race: Jaswant – First Position

  • Magical Chair: Aradhya – First Position

The activities created an atmosphere of joy and excitement on the school campus, with students cheering for their classmates and celebrating both participation and achievement.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The celebration also served as an opportunity to help students understand that sports are an important part of education. Through games, children learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, patience, perseverance, discipline, leadership, and respect for others. The life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand were also highlighted, inspiring students to pursue their interests with dedication and hard work.

A Message of Fitness and Participation

Dr. Atul Bamrara and Headmistress Nanda Rawat guided the celebration and encouraged students to participate regularly in physical activities and sports. They emphasized that every child should have opportunities to play, explore their abilities, and develop a healthy and active lifestyle. The National Sports Day celebration at GPS Chaunrkhal was a joyful reminder that sports are not merely about winning—they are about participation, learning, fitness, friendship, and developing the confidence to face challenges.

Play. Learn. Grow. Stay Fit.

The celebration concluded with appreciation for all participating students and a renewed commitment to making sports and joyful physical activities an integral part of school life at GPS Chaunrkhal.
