On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a meaningful and inspiring program titled “Nari Shakti Samman” was organized at Panchayat Bhawan, Kyaard to recognize the silent yet significant contributions of women working at the grassroots level. The event was jointly organized by Chhabi Sewa Foundation and Mon Indigenous Culture and Welfare Society with the aim of honoring the unsung women who have been serving society with dedication for decades.

The highlight of the program was the felicitation of 15 Bhojan Matas from Sankul Ginthali, who have been tirelessly preparing nutritious meals for school children under the government’s school meal initiative. These women have quietly played a vital role in supporting children’s health and education by ensuring that thousands of students receive warm and nourishing meals every day. Despite their humble role, their service has had a profound impact on the well-being and learning of young students in rural areas.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of District Panchayat Member (Kalun) Bharat Rawat as the chief guest. His presence added prestige to the program and reflected the community’s respect for the invaluable contribution of these women. Nikhilesh Ojha, ARTO - Pauri Garhwal, also attended the program as a distinguished guest and appreciated the initiative of honoring grassroots women who contribute silently to the development of society.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Atul Bamrara, who highlighted the importance of recognizing the dignity of labor and the strength of women working behind the scenes. In his address, he emphasized that Bhojan Matas are not merely cooks but caretakers of children’s health and contributors to the educational ecosystem, as nutritious food plays a vital role in improving attendance, concentration, and overall well-being of students.

During the program, each Bhojan Mata was felicitated with a shawl, memento, and words of appreciation, acknowledging their years of dedicated service. The felicitation ceremony created an emotional and proud moment for the women, many of whom have been preparing meals for children for decades without seeking recognition.

Adding color and vibrancy to the occasion, the Mahila Mangal Dal of Kyaard village presented traditional cultural performances that beautifully reflected the rich heritage and community spirit of the region. The folk songs and cultural presentations captivated the audience and made the celebration even more memorable. The performances symbolized the strength, creativity, and cultural richness of rural women.

The event served as a reminder that true social development is possible only when the contributions of grassroots women are acknowledged and celebrated. By honoring Bhojan Matas, the organizers aimed to highlight the importance of recognizing the everyday heroes who quietly support children, families, and communities.

The Nari Shakti Samman program concluded with a collective message of gratitude and respect for women whose dedication and compassion continue to nurture future generations. The initiative by Chhabi Sewa Foundation and Mon Indigenous Culture and Welfare Society was widely appreciated by the community and participants, as it brought much-deserved recognition to women who have been serving society selflessly for years.

The event not only celebrated women’s empowerment but also reinforced the belief that every contribution—no matter how humble—plays a vital role in building a stronger and healthier society.
