In a significant achievement for the field of education, eminent educators Dr. Atul Bamrara and Poonam Bamrara from Pauri Garhwal have gained international recognition for their collaborative research. Their work has been published in the prestigious volume Teaching Methodologies in Asian and Pacific School Systems, brought out by IGI Global - Hershey USA and edited by Fredric Fovet.

Titled “Using Indigenous Games to Strengthen Numeracy in Early Education”, the study presents an innovative approach to enhancing foundational mathematics skills among young learners. It highlights how indigenous games can effectively develop competencies such as counting, spatial reasoning, estimation, and problem-solving in a joyful and engaging manner. The research was conducted in schools of Uttarakhand using a quasi-experimental design with control and experimental groups. Assessment aligned with the learning outcomes of National Council of Educational Research and Training through pre- and post-tests revealed a significant improvement in numeracy skills among students exposed to game-based learning.

The study strongly supports key educational priorities such as FLN, experiential learning, and joyful learning, while aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. It emphasizes that culturally relevant, low-cost indigenous games can play a transformative role in making education more inclusive, effective, and contextually meaningful. This accomplishment not only highlights the academic excellence of Dr. Bamrara and Poonam Bamrara but also showcases how educators from regions like Pauri Garhwal are contributing meaningfully to global educational discourse.
