Chhabi Foundation Day Observed with Learning-Centric Initiatives in Rural Uttarakhand

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Chhabi Sewa Foundation (CSF), in collaboration with Chhabi Vishwa Foundation and Mon Indigenous Culture and Welfare Society (MICWS), organized a series of meaningful educational and awareness activities at two rural government schools of Uttarakhand - Government Primary School (GPS) Chaunrkhal, Pauri Garhwal, and Government Model Primary School (GMPS) Pokhrikhet, Pauri Garhwal.

Strengthening Learning Infrastructure: Laser Printer Donation

The event began with a significant infrastructural support initiative, as Chhabi Sewa Foundation donated a laser printer to the school to strengthen teaching–learning processes. The printer is expected to play a crucial role in improving academic delivery, assessment practices, worksheet-based learning, project work, and documentation, especially in resource-constrained rural settings.

School authorities acknowledged that access to such digital support tools directly enhances learning outcomes, enables timely academic feedback, and supports teachers in implementing experiential and activity-based learning, aligning with the vision of NEP 2020 and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) goals.

Distribution of Stationery to Support Everyday Learning

To ensure that no child is held back due to lack of basic learning resources, stationery items were distributed to all students at both schools. The distribution included essential classroom materials that encourage regular practice, neat work habits, and active participation.

Teachers noted that access to stationery plays a vital role in sustained engagement, confidence building, and reducing learning gaps, particularly among students from rural and economically challenged backgrounds.

World Cancer Day Awareness through Student Engagement

To mark World Cancer Day, CSF adopted a student-centric and joyful learning approach by combining health awareness with creative expression. A cake-cutting ceremony was organized with students at both venues, symbolizing hope, unity, and compassion.

This simple yet thoughtful activity created an emotionally engaging environment, making the occasion memorable and meaningful for young learners.

Poster Competition on Cancer Awareness

A poster-making competition was conducted at both schools to spread awareness about cancer, its prevention, and healthy lifestyles. Students actively participated, using art as a medium to express social responsibility and scientific understanding. At GPS Chaunrkhal, the winners were: First Prize: Dakshit, Second Prize: Anshul, Third Prize: Pawan. At GMPS Pokhrikhet, the winners were: First Prize: Himanshi, Second Prize: Ishani, Third Prize: Aarav. Awards were distributed to encourage creativity, confidence, and critical thinking among students. Teachers highlighted that such competitions not only promote health literacy but also improve communication skills, conceptual clarity, and emotional intelligence.

Special Lunch for Students

To further promote inclusivity, health, and well-being, a special nutritious lunch was offered to all students by Chhabi Sewa Foundation, Chhabi Vishwa Foundation, and MICWS. The meal included poori, chhole, salad, fruits and halwa, emphasizing the value of freshly prepared, traditional, and balanced food over packaged items such as juices, chips, or processed snacks.

This initiative reinforced the importance of nutritional food habits, physical well-being, and holistic child development, particularly in rural communities where access to balanced meals plays a critical role in student attendance, classroom engagement, energy levels, and overall learning readiness. By promoting wholesome Indian meals rooted in local food practices, the foundations also supported awareness about healthy lifestyle choices from an early age.

Appreciation from Schools

Students, teachers, and staff members of both schools expressed heartfelt gratitude to CSF and its associate organizations for organizing such a comprehensive and impactful event. They emphasized that integrating health awareness, infrastructure support, creative learning, and student welfare in a single initiative creates long-term positive outcomes for children.

A Model of Integrated Educational Support

The World Cancer Day observance by Chhabi Sewa Foundation (CSF) stands as a model of integrated educational intervention, where infrastructure support like printer donation, awareness programs, creative competitions, and nutritional care collectively contribute to improved learning outcomes, awareness, and student motivation. By addressing both academic needs and social awareness, CSF continues to strengthen its commitment to empowering schools and students in rural Uttarakhand, ensuring that education remains meaningful, inclusive, and future-ready.
